Version 1.1 (UI Update!)


First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who played and rated my Kenney Jam entry!  I did not expect to place in the top 10, and a 5th place of 300 entries was amazing.  This was the first game jam I actually completed an entry on time for, and seeing all of the feedback from the community was wonderful.  Not just on my game but on everyone's games.


I have to shout out BenjaTK and their game Terraforma for inspiring me to work on a post-jam update to my entry.  I tried to address some of my long list of things to improve and incorporate adjustments to make the game a bit more user friendly.  Plenty more I'd love to change in the future, but we'll see what I get up to.


First I'd like to highlight the label changes on the plants.  When using the wrong tool, the plant label will be faded, and the text will show red.

And plants which will soon perish will now blink their health bars red as they get low.  

I also updated the shovel tool UI to show plants ready to harvest as green and plants which need to be dug up as red.  Using the shovel on a living plant will also change the text to red to alert you that you're possibly doing the wrong action (though you may need to dig up healthy plants to make room for a different type of plant).

    • Added green UI theme to active tool
    • Added green UI theme to plants ready for harvest and red theme to plants which need digging up
    • Faded plant labels for plants not affected by the active tool
    • Changed highlight text to be red for plants not affected by the active tool and living plants about to be shoveled
    • Added red blinking to plants about to wilt and orders near timeout
    • Added UI counter for the total completed orders
    • Added pause menu (Escape key, though this does conflict with exiting fullscreen mode in some browsers so it'll need a double tap)

    • Reduced max plants per order from 10 to 6

    • Updated tutorial flow to better introduce tools
    • Added delay to the first customer order coming in until after the first tool has been used
    • Changed customer tutorial text to disappear after 20 seconds rather than upon the first completed order
  • Bug fixes
    • Fixed music looping forever instead of switching between tracks
    • Decreased game size by 67% by excluding unused assets from the export (yay faster load time!)
